Imoogi brooch necklace

The Imoogi brooch necklace is a sculptural piece by Nawol inspired by the Imoogi, a creature from Korean folklore. While an Imoogi is a being on the verge of becoming a dragon, I view it not merely as "unfinished," but as a creature that chooses its own path and attitude to become one.

This work began with the story of an Imoogi that finally became a dragon after letting go of its desire for the Yeouiju (magic orb). In terms of form, I wanted to capture the state of a being dwelling on the boundary rather than the shape of a perfect dragon; thus, some parts remain sharp, while others are left in a less refined structure.

The Imoogi brooch necklace can be worn as both a brooch and a pendant, giving a different impression depending on the occasion and outfit. The Imoogi necklace/brooch suits solid-colored clothing better than heavily patterned garments. When worn as a necklace, it acts as a natural, understated accent for casual styles like a white t-shirt or a loose knit. It is a design where its form and details come to life clearly against simple clothing.
