두 마리의 작은 포졸 오리

Two little police ducks

Strong guardians of everyday life

I recently watched the K-pop film Demon Hunters and was truly moved. I was so impressed by the shaman characters who defeat evil spirits with music and martial arts, their costumes and weapons artistically blended with traditional Korean elements. I was so impressed by the idea of protecting people, and the beauty of traditional attire... It naturally brought back memories of Joseon Dynasty constables . I had started making these little ducks before, inspired by Joseon Dynasty constables, but watching this animation brought that idea back to me, and I was finally able to finish them.

During the Joseon Dynasty, constables were part of the police force, tasked with maintaining order on the streets. Their black hats and red tassels were their symbols, and I reinterpreted them in a cute way using pearls and silver. I even tried making a blue tassel, just for fun, and was pleasantly surprised at how well it matched.

These little constable pearl ducks are both a tribute to history and a protective talisman of sorts. I hope they will become a silent presence, always by your side, wherever you are.

And seeing K-pop demon hunters interpret traditional elements in such a bold and modern way,
I also felt that I needed to learn more and be able to interpret and express it in my own style.
I felt once again that tradition is not something that remains in the past, but can be carried on into today's language.
